morning in the rain

it comes on days like these.  the days when the day starts gray and longing.  longing for the rays of sun as they dip through the clouds.  it's when i look at you as i fall out of bed, your eyes closed and your breathing even.  it's that catch in my chest, in my heart.  when i want to come back and feel your arms, tired, as they wrap around me as a reflex.  that you pull yourself closer to me while running inside your dreams yet.  i'm your magnet, your opposite polarity.  as you are mine, and i feel you at all hours during the day.   i feel you as i talk, the memory of your lips as they brushed this morning.  the pressure of your hands as they hold onto mine.  i feel you against my back the slight dampness between us from the warm night, and i feel these all while sitting away the hours of the day.  and i wait for that one hour, that comes, when the bell rings and i head home to you. through the rush and madness of this world, through the pursuits of anger and envy that we all see.  but i become blind to them.  to the rain that falls and crowds the street with it's rivers.  to the dirt of the city as the comes away beneath its baptism.
