The Waiting

Shades of dreary gray
Black heart, cold and untouched
There is no soothing
Emptiness bound inside like a burden
Naïve but temptation still rears its disfigured head

Wanting and fearing
Needing and Craving
Exhilaration, will it come my way?

A withered flower still wants attention
A dying tree still needs a little water
An old man a companion

Thick fog blinds all sight
The road ahead may be treacherous
Perils and pitfalls watch and wait
Around the love there is an ancient and towering gate

A gate that begs to be opened
Or maybe it was open all along
Oh when will my love come strolling along?
