Ghosts by Sarah Elizabeth Hume Falling crystal, surpassing the pearl of broken clouds. To the earth it falls in whispers like ghosts upon the wind. And through the air the voices haunt me with visions of dark eyes on cold nights, when no blankets were needed to warm our frozen flesh and bodies melted together like snow in June. Salted tears fall down pale cheeks to the empty spaces and I hold the emptiness as it trickles down. Somber are the ghosts of our love that come in visions as clear as the stars. They tear into me beyond the wounds of earthly cloth, So lies my haunted soul... |
