The shadows talk to me of you
As the midnight chill embraces my heart
I shiver as bats fly about uncaring
Insensitive insects sing in the dark
They are distracting, breaking the silence
Not knowing the raw wounds
Of love, loss, love, loss

Sitting here while aloneness seeps in
A welcome sight for ghosts and memories
I feel the night growing upon me
The dark is darker now, the silence echoing
It settles upon me, a heavy burden to bear
As the whispers of the shadows fall silent
Conquered by the haunting cries of the wild
