I said to the wind as it blew through the trees and made the chimes dance Teach me to sing So I too can reach far and away with my voice Teach me to sing But the wind only carried my voice away to a place I'll never hear it again. I said to the rain as it wetted the ground and washed away the dry, cracked, broken soil. Teach me to cry So that I too can wash way the broken pieces of this broken heart Teach me to cry But the rain had tears only for another, perhaps the wind that blows so far away. I said to the sun as it splashed it's bright rays upon new spring flowers Teach me to smile So that too can pass on happiness and life from a distance Teach me to smile But the sun just shined on leaving me with this sunburn. |
