Standing in the place I've been The respite I've made my home The air is what I've made it here With no time or place or hint of fear. It is a life without blood A decision I've made and followed thus far Fear not, no fear, it's cold out there So I'll stay in here, where life is fair. But don't hold me to it Because I am a rule-breaker, a rebel Through and through Something I have worked for, a see-through glean Of something else, of something seen In less-than-adult moments I've had Don't hold me to it, unless I say I promise you, and then I'll stay. But I don't make promises easy, either. Or often. Or lightly. They are for keeps, you know. Promises are fearless leaps. Of something I have less and less of these days. These days of my rebellious ways. So ask me no promises, and let me live here Right here, in the absence of fear. |
