Heard the news yesterday And slowly, a physical reaction occurred Unrestrained, subconcious, yet tentatively joyous. A breath, like no other. Some people will know And some will pass judgment Not knowing what I do; what some of us do Not knowing of the shell that forms when one is one. So judge me, I find curiosity in that. I will look you in the eye and dare you To judge me. When you just do not know... None of my shoes have ever been missing. Leading me to believe that you've never walked in them. Ever. So go ahead, take a walk in them. I'll be over here, taking my second unfettered breath In a million years. It has been a million, hasn't it? Because it sure as fuck feels like it. My mama told me that you don't need a man to be happy Happiness seeming to be the holy grail; I find it fleeting, I simply grab moments And are grateful for them. She never mentioned just being able to breathe. |
