A Memoir So many yesterdays flooding my mind And always I feel tomorrow may never come You search for answers you can never find And in the end you feel you’ll come undone An ice grip has come over my heart And so I push everything down inside Wishing we could just go back to the start Although it was you, I feel that I have died But I have not gone to heaven… Memories unbound The heartache still so fresh and potent I reach for you but you’re not there But night falls again The dream has started anew You look at me and smile All time ceases and there is only you and I We have forever I hug you and we both cry There is no separating us We’re two pieces of a puzzle Pages in a book And I look into your warm eyes And I say to you “I love you” At that moment there is a pause A sigh of relief is upon us “I love you too, son” I awake so suddenly Our embrace was iron and eternal …but so is my love |
