neglected....

neglected....
a metaphor

the hinge is broken
and so goes the door
half in, half out
then nevermore

much like our before
love cut to the core
half in, half out
bandaging the sore

shoulda fixed it, sure
but the floor's rotten
worse than the door
the house's creaking
old tin roof's leaking

easier to skip-out
huh? than stay about

neglect, what it can do
like a horse and shoe

yep, for want of paint
that wood was lost
ah, the hinge, unhinged
and what can we say but
for want of a screw....

For want of a nail the shoe was lost, for want of the shoe the horse was lost, for want of the horse the warrior was lost, for want of the warrior the battle was lost....and the war was lost and so goes love and wars ad infinitum. Yes, I know, bawdy imperfect verse left to be finished maybe, maybe not, some other day. A sorry string of lines for your requested "witty" verse, Pammey (CS%*) :-)
