All this time, gills...

So, in a perfect moment,
her ocean leaves a secret,
for me and only me and my being.
She tells me she is breeding
a million colonies of liveliness
and only I will know this,
and that's killing me.

So foolishly I
lean in much closer,
I study deep and close and then,
I stumble in...

My body sinks so quickly,
and I try my best to save embarrassment,
I contemplate the emptiness
that gave water gravity.

And it tugs emotions,
it stings the senses, all of them...
but in a single moment of clarity,
I cease my senseless struggling,
right myself as I hit the bottom and
realize, for the first time,
I can breathe.
