Yesterday, I remembered why they called my Delilah, and it was so easy to recall what you had, momentarily, allowed me to forget-- I dropped my guard: quietly, deftly, and purposefully. And my betrayal was that of a different kind, and I won't give you the satisfaction of saving my life-- I'll simply take your hair as the price, and, well...you know how the story goes. Delilah, deceptively beautiful, seemingly something other than wicked-- I remember the secrets I know, the aces I hold, and the viciousness I possess, and shelve whenever necessary. You underestimate me, so be it--it will be more amusing when your reckoning comes to call. Yes, love, that's a threat, naked and laughing. You've crossed it all wrong, and my lips are kissed, and my hands are searching, but what you seek to touch is far worse than poison: look back, and you could shudder into stone-- fail to, and the consequences will be beyond what you are begging for: don't say I didn't warn, don't say I left you no way out, don't say it. Don't-- because if you reach for me, because if you surrender to the fall, I promise to be more than you can handle, a brilliant devil who loves the feel of her back up against the wall. |
