I'm a little suspicious of happiness now It seems to hide in the corner of a room And when you find it, and grab it, And think you have it as your own, It will find a way to turn its back on you. Like a friendship, with the wrong person Like a championship game, almost, But not quite, Won. Like a cheater, a liar, a sun That hides behind clouds That rain, on a theoretically sunny day. Don't rely on me, it says. Don't expect too much of me. Don't expect from me at all. And for the utter idealist Whose insides are turning to black That happiness in the corner Begs to be slaughtered First, Before it has a chance to beguile me. I'm a little suspicious of happiness Now. |
