I know I went into this knowing what And to whom I was making those vows. But I've always been stunned By the audacity of war. And the sheer lunacy of killing For the sake of peace. Killing for the sake of peace Escapes my sensibilities. And leaves me speechless And confounded. My soul is not the kind to look too deeply into the reasoning Behind war, and the things that are done In the name of it. But lo and behold I am married to it now. And facing it or not Is not a choice That is mine to make. I made my vows, and I love a soldier. For better or worse, in peace And at war. |
