I was 17 years old when I got married the First Time. I hate to admit how stupid and naiive I was back then. My husband was 19 years old and after one year of marriage, he told me that our marriage license had to be renewed, just like a driver's license had to be renewed - but only sooner or else it would expire. I didn't know any better. So he told me that every year, the husband can either renew the marriage license or not. I asked him what would happen if he didn't renew the license. He told me that if he did not renew it, then we would no longer be married. Well, when the day of our anniversary started getting near, I started cooking really elaborate meals, and acting super sweet to him. And I guess it worked, because he renewed the license. I was relieved and glad, that I was safe for at least another year. You wouldn't believe all the other things he told me that I thought was true too. I'm so glad that I am not 17 years old anymore. ``````` |
