The night crawls fiercely, devilishly, startlingly, suddenly, and the city is quiet beaten down by winter's ferocity and I am wandering through hallways tenderly touching walls made of air and breath I am a miraculous mistake beholden to time and laws that govern hearts and lips Taken away by meaning to someplace quiet where I can try to explain what I don't yet understand (You will discard me; I am not worth the light that emanates from soft eyes) My thoughts move through the night blessing chaos with holy water and useless words from my youth where I vainly grasped at understanding and buried my desires beneath the years that passed and surrender secretly smiles as I wear her as my new skin and the devils laugh more terribly than I can stand as I desperately search for the sun. |
