I have often suggested to guarded hearts that the hardest thing is just to be loved. As I have always fancied myself a gracious and giving lover, this -- being loved -- seemed quite simple to accept. Ridiculously so, in fact. Why would any one -- with nothing to hide, which is very different than nothing to lose -- resist being fully and wholly loved by someone genuinely good? As the recent recipient of a large dose of gentleness and generosity, I find I am having trouble taking my own advice. -Just L July 14, 2015 |
