In the attic I found some broken hearts Climbing the ladder this discovery was not my aim Searching for something far more mundane A box overflowing with love letters I came upon Binder paper, legal pads, and stained pages written on Spilled out onto the pink insulation in the attic Words... Frantic, gentle, longing, anxious, poetic Scribbled, typed, emailed, handwritten on stationary I was astonished to find so many Secret wishes, silent dreams, distant hopes, hidden treasures From various authors over countless years Reminded me that I, too, have broken hearts ~Just L September 20, 2015 (Some may find their way to these pages...) |
