As a young girl I had a wish list etched on my heart. It went beyond the house with a picket fence, two kids, the Volvo station wagon, and a German Shepherd. I wanted... An heirloom engagement ring; A grandmother's treasure properly presented to me. A signature fragrance; A scent that would send him e-v-e-r-y time, or at least sweetly direct him to kiss my neck. Dinner parties for eight; Starting with a proper cocktail, mixed with friends we both enjoy, and laughing until "oh my gosh look at the time" late. Our song; One that we would actually dance to over and over under the stars or in the living room for no reason at all. A love; "The one" that transcends lists and lasts a lifetime. As a grown woman, I have had none of these things, and I believe there is still time. -Just L September 23, 2015 (First day of fall) Dedicated to my girlhood friend who got engaged today -- for the first time -- at age 52, and it's perfect. |
