I like to cut stuff outta magazines and make collages on posterboard. I had one hanging in my apartment in Bridgeport that featured a sign that read,"It's time for the army of conformity to let down its weapons and let the Freak Flag fly." I think I got that outta SPIN magazine.

slug~ 'Wonderland' was a wonderful, whimsical, and yes hopeful piece. But there is also an underlying thread of sadness that tempers the whole just right!

it doesnt matter~ 'trust' says what I have longed to be in the position to say and do. very good work...

sarah~ I loved the imagery of 'frozen song'...
"i imagined myself the drop of frozen dew on the grass
yesterday morning, and here i am, i am that frozen drop
and i wonder if someone will come and step on me"
...that line stayed with me all evening.

Angel~ 'Gripping'.....wow, who turned up the heat?...lol

Madison~ 'xicara' was beautiful...is xicara a brazilian hot pepper? or do you use the term to refer to a place?

Kevin~ 'Always the Words'....heartwrenching.
thank you Angel & terry, and to answer, xocóatl was an elixer, a libation: circa 1519 or so (we call 'em Rum & Cokes or Colorado Bulldogs now) but anyway, they were only allowed to be sipped by the rulers of the Aztec society. The drink was served in a xícara, an elaborate gold goblet set (on a base covered with jaguar skin).

ohhhh Misti, I ,too, cut out pics from mags...very small pics in coordinating schemes and colors (I love pinks and lt. greens)...then i take the pieces and dip in a thin flour paste and afix on wine bottles i have managed to collect *SMILE*...when I am through, i give several coats of Polyurathane and *Walla* a beautiful vase. I also make salt dough wreaths and various ornaments...i do these things when i am bored with writing...and YES...I do get bored alot...I'm a Gemini!

Thank you ,Terry...and I was born that way *SMILE*

Dee~ I wanted to thank you for doing 'Angel in the Crosswind' (Painting of me :) I thought it was wonderfully eeiry the way you depicted my feelings in that painting with such accuracy though you have never met me personally. The frail arms, shedding of wings, crosswind...all work so well together to depict me as of late. For those of you who havn't seen it...it is posted on poetic Friends awaiting some verse to possibly be posted here. For anyone who hasn't a password yet for poetic friends and would like one you can email me at no1halo@yahoo.com and I will gladly send you an invite. Dee, YOU are a fabulous artist!

the imagery of "Camisole" is so vivid, I could even see the mist... Beautiful work
Gala-
you epitomize everything that is good about this place, with all the encouragement and guidance, and yes, the wonderful poetry. It is almost daunting sometimes, as a poet, because after reading works like "Dream Catcher" and yesterday's "No Fear," I feel as if you've raised the bar... But don't you dare stop!

Dee-
you may not have been completely satisfied with your representation of our resident Angel (waves, *hi, Angel!*), but I find that the painting has an fascinating story to tell (and given the subject, it is fitting). Good work...
Almost Cut My Hair---David Crosby

Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It was getting kind of long
I could have said it was in my way

But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
And I feel like I owe it to someone

Must be because I had the flu for Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
It increases my paranoia
Like looking into a mirror and seeing a police car

But I'm not giving in an inch to fear
Cos I promised myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone

When I finally get myself together
I'm gonna get down in some of that sweet summer weather
I'm going to find a space inside to laugh
Separate the wheat from the chaff

Cos I feel like I owe it, yeah
Said I feel like I owe it, yeah
You know I feel---- like I owe it yeah to someone
Nadia~ 'L'envie' is very nice...if you do not mind I will translate your words in my rough way for our non-french speaking Blender friends. Please excuse any mistakes.

Envy

"Ah, the envy that you inspire in me. I envy your hands that have the right to caress your body, all over, when you take your bath. I envy your lips, that themselves rub together all day, knowing the taste of your mouth. I envy your thighs, that sleep every night one against the other. But I do not envy your eyes. They do not have access to that mirror image. I see you as you are, handsome before me. With my eyes I will keep and benefit from loving you at a distance till you allow me to hold your hand, to taste your lips, to squeeze your thighs between mine… Speak then, Do you have envy?"
Heya all -- excuse my sniffles and sneezes, and the dark rings under my eyes.... spring has truly sprung in New Zealand, and heyfever and lack of sleep (due to my son being a sick little boy) has really taken its toll on me recently....

Gala -- 'No Fear' was lovely -- I personally LOVE lip nips.... as for 'Dream catcher' amazing... wow, loved it.

Madi -- 'choosing my camisole', wonderful imagery.

Angel -- I'm thrilled you are happy with your angel, when I first said I could make you look like Claudia S. I started on a picture then, and it just wouldn't work.... so when you told me that you'd be happier with something closer to the 'real' you, it started working straight away.... I'm glad there are things that you can pick up on as being 'you' in there -- I must say however, that I never really meant for anything symbolic... I just did what 'felt' right, and as a poet, I'm sure there has been times when you've not really thought about the words they've just come... well thats what happened this time, and the parts of the angel that I tried to force, just wouldn't work, but the things I allowed to happen look lovely.

Terry thankyou for your words, you and Gala inspire me each and every day -- for you to write something for my paintings is always a boost to a tired spirit -- and Kevin thankyou -- and happy birthday for tomorrow (kiwi time).... TK will be three... and spoilt, I know it.
Hank - thanks for the translation - its a nice idea. However I've fine-tuned it a bit to reflect my intended meaning:

Envy/Desire (same word in French)

"Ah, the desire that you inspire in me. I envy your hands that have the right to caress your body, all over, when you take your bath. I envy your lips, that rub together all day, and that know the taste of your mouth. I envy your thighs, that sleep every night one against the other. But I do not envy your eyes. No, your eyes will never see you as I do. They only have access to an image in a mirror. I'm the one who sees you as you are, so handsome before me. So I'll keep my own eyes and use them to love you from a distance until you allow me to insert myself between your hands, to taste your lips, to squeeze your thighs between mine… Tell me, do you desire (it)?"

were the melodies i knew to be yours
the beauty that had ever rested in my heart
