Angel -- I loved the lines...

"at the crosswind
b'neath a golden sky
when all an angel has to do
is shed her wings to fly"

I think they nearly stand alone -- I may borrow that every now and again as a caption for the painting -- if you'll be so kind.

Gala -- I don't recall the title, but your work about kissing palms, beautiful and very lyrical.
Listening to serious love songs before your eyes have focused, and the caffiene has had a chance to hit...
morning all. I woke up musing about the engine of love, with the wonderous Nadia's translation on my mind. Lady,
you are amazing. I submitted a very bad translation earlier this week, that was purely kindergarten compared to your wizardry. I bow before a serious contender!

Now then---love. Love is astounding at any time, but love when you're eyeballing the big 4-0...surreal! You spend so much of your life love drenched, in one form or other. We're either falling in love, living love, falling out of love, or mourning it in some form. It never tastes the same way, never takes the same shape---and yet it drives our lives.

Love is interesting----it's self supporting for a while---fed by fascination, excitement, and pure joy,but at some point you have to take over the care and feeding of it yourself. This site attracts the true romantics among us, those who would rather revel in a kiss than a kingdom, would rather look deep into a lover's eyes, than witness the stained glass of a chapel in Paris.

Love poetry is a curious beast. We probably all dabbled with it as teen agers, during that period when your level of self absorbtion is at a life time high. But there's one heck of a cross section represented here. And the talent is visited across the lines of age, industry, and economy.

What we share is intensity. Whether we came here punch drunk on the first stirrings of love, or reeling from the effects of lost love---we recognize each other. I enjoy this strange union---have found dear freinds, and been warmly welcomed from the first. But I am amazed time and again that we never get stale, that one small piece can make you feel that first perfect kiss, can bring us to a breathless moment when heart and head accepted the inevitable.

It's all good...and it beats the hell out of card games!

When you see thru the eyes of love, the whole world seems to move with the rhythms, textures and beauty of it. Love is a beautiful, cruel, angel that can lift you high as heaven and then take you to the depths of pain and hell in one fell swoop. If you don't crash head first, it scoops you up at ground level, kisses you, brushes you off, and then sends you back out, to play again.

"For what is the beloved? She is that which I
myself am not. In the act of love, I am pure
male, and she is pure female. She is she and I
am I, and clasped together with her, I know how
perfectly she is not me, how perfectly I am not
her, how utterly we are two, the light and the
darkness, and how infinitely and eternally
not-to-be-comprehended by either of us is the
surprassing One we make." ~D. H. Lawerence

Thank you all for such a warm welcome to this site! Like most of you, I've been writing for some time (ever since I learned how, really) but I never dared let anyone read it before. 'N.' changed that recently (he's the one "In The Book" and "L'Envie" were written for). I swallowed my fear and read them aloud to him, with such amazing results! That gave me the courage to share them with others too, which is why I'm here.

So thanks again for your encouraging comments. I feel like a fledgling stepping out of the nest for the first time and you, the prevailing winds, could have blown me down but instead you've lifted me up and shown me how much fun it can be to fly!
......a truly wonderful site i find my self reading and wanting to comment on
every poem and being quite overwhelmed. so many that are so very well done ,
the insights the thoughts on the one subject that makes us human, the ability to
love. i loved this one and that one and that one over there and i want to comment
on this and that and i cant forget this one also then there is..........and to my
shame i end up not commenting at all. then as my shame grows there is a new
batch and the process starts all over. to all that have liked my stuff, my thanks, i
hope i never disappoint. and to all that i like so well my thanks again for the
excellent reads . i hope i soon develop the talent for the comments as so many
deserve one. thanks again kirk for the foresight to give so much to so many
