sarah-
no, my dear, thank YOU...

Daisy Buchanan is the main female character in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, required reading for upper level American Lit. courses all over the States. In this American allegory, Daisy is the enchantress, the siren of The Great Gatsby, luring men to their ruin with her silvery voice that sounds "like money." This voice is her most distinctive and seductive characteristic. It is described as an "exhilarating ripple," "a wild tonic in the rain," and a "deathless song." Her voice represents the magic and unreality of American life among the rich (Daisy's 'love' was, for all intents and purposes, purchased with a $350,000 pearl necklace by her husband). And to Jay Gatsby she symbolized all that is pure and good (and, well, EXCITING) about living in America...

Kev: the Great Gatsby is one of my favorite stories- and they've just released an early version of it (shorter and a bit more concise, with a few differences) called TRimalchio. also worth the read. daisy is also one ofmy favorite heroines in literary history (and i've read A LOT)

Riggs: The U2 song is on the batman forever soundtrack. it's a good one. it's a remake of a sixties or seventies song that i can't think of now. i want to say it's by the beatles, but i could be lying and not knowing it. so i'll just stop there.

Sarah ~ "prelude to sadness: real life" struck some chord...Sometimes I think it all worked out in a parallel universe or another life..

I'm so tired, no, exhausted,
No, exasparated, drained!
I want to vanish, disappear
Escape this awful pain
I try to fight these feelings
That I have inside
And yet they are too strong
For me to win
So I surrender,
I surrender to these overwhelming emotions
And hope that they will go easy on me
I beg to be released
From this unbearable confinement
How do I get out ?
How do I escape ?
Please God,
Give me strength to go on
For I no longer have it in me!
They say time heals
And everything is forgotten eventually
How can I believe that
It's been so long,
And still inside me I feel
That same pain I felt so long ago
My soul is bruised and bleeding still
No one can help
No doctor can heal this wound
It's like a permanent scar
That aches constantly,
So that you never forget
Never forget how you got it
Never forget how painful it was
Never forget who inflicted it upon you
So does time really heal everything?
The answer is no!
A soul cannont be healed
Even with time you soul remains an open wound
And all you can do is learn to live with the pain!

Kev -- "a wild tonic in the rain" ... thats me baby!! I was once told by a sweetie that my accent was 'proper' but my giggle -- 'decadent'...... I've always loved that idea. (I think he was biased toward my wicked giggle cause it meant I was being bad, and bad is good.... no?.....)

BK, thanks for the comment on 'the jewel' .... I'm secretly very pleased with her myself. Its my opinion that you should be (not so secretly) pleased with 'In Dreams' and 'The sound of you'... wonderful works.... well done.

(Got a long list today, go get a cuppa)

Mira --- 'Mine' (sounds like me, hehe ) and 'Passionate Kisses'.... lovely!

Jenna --- 'Broken Vessels' had a wonderful rhythm, very sexy!

TheVampire (long time no see) 'Speak'.... loved it.

Sarah -- your voice has been very strong lately, the more I read of your work the more I'm impressed... it must be the 5'1 in you!! 'Empty' , 'when night falls' and 'dancing indigo' really stood out.

guppy --- where have you been lately? (you better not be sick again!) 'simple'.... is a perfect example of why I miss you.

Gala, (yes, you may come out now) you've had so much pep and sensual in your words, I wonder whats in that NJ water (and I'm gonna get me a BIG glass when I get there).... 'An autumn moment'.... yummy.

also: Scqueen, 'no farm, no food' -- great images and another.... 'java'..... great beat, great flow.... well done.

take care of your hearts,

dee

Speaking of missing folk, my handsome Cowboy Hank C.... where are you baby... come play.
