JWB71913, I loved Mail Order Funeral. I've been there before. You're in my thoughts... hang in there. Things will get easier with time. Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, as much as it hurts sometimes.

Champagne, Word. Loved I Think Your Ladder is SEXY. There's definitely something about a manly man. Makes my heart tingle!

This one was so well written.

You put your thought so well into words.

I've been wanting to tell you that you are a
very talented writer.

It also reminded me of my past -
and how you need closure - to build the strength to go on.
To Athena -

Thanks for the enthusiastic comments on "Ladders"

The poem came into my head last night, when a white
truck passed me - all filled with tools and ladders
tied to the top.

It made me tingle.

Even if a guy is not good looking - nor muscular -
just to see a man who can work with his hands and build
things or repair things - is a big turn on.
I often check out the writing of others that have been
praised by the writers here.

Star of David made a recent list - so I checked them out.

I particularly liked this one - Feedin' The Hunger

written by Misti -

It rang out loud and clear with a definite message
that is experienced by so many people in this day and age
of free love.

Great Stuff Misti
I liked "Home".

But I really liked Checkmate
Especially the ending - it was great
WOLFSCREAMER - Don't be too hard on yourself. It happens to people of both sexes.

It has also happened to me several times.

I dated a guy for a long time once, and I thought that we were just friends. We never consummated our relationship.
In fact it was a rather cold friendship in the romance and sexual arena. The only thing we ever shared were a few innocent kisses. We dated for two years - but never did much but talk, go to movies, concerts, and parties, etc.

I thought of him as a brother-type friend.

When I broke up with him, (I had found a serious relationship elsewhere) - he committed suicide and left a
note that I had broken his heart.

I was devastated. I loved him like a brother, and thought of him as a good friend. I had no idea how he felt about me, especially since we never shared anything physical.

Recently - I broke up with a guy that had gone around and told all his family and friends that we were an item.
And yet, all we ever did was attend a few poetry readings,
go to dinner, and movies, etc. We shared a few kisses
and that was all.

His parents told me after the breakup that he was talking
about wedding bells. Duh - where was I ?

I never heard anything but fog horns.

So I could be hard on myself too. I wasn't playing any games, I just didn't know.
Athena, SterlingRose, Champagne, Star of David. Thanks for noticing my efforts. My son has been my strength through this last travail, as well as a couple of dear friends. It's funny that when I sat to write last night I had no intention of writing prose. But as I read through some of my old postings here, it became clear that it was way past time to let go and move on. Until the empty place is clean and ready for a new tenant, it cannot be let.

Thanks again for your comments....Jim
