Candles

We may only be friends
but in my eyes
You'll always hold a candle
in my heart
We may have not see each other
in a long, long time
But our friendship will always last
 you may leave
And I may depart
but the candle I hold for you will never go out
You once told me that you loved me
and you never would stop
But in my heart 
I hoped it would change
that our friendship would be more
I still longed for you
through the hardships
And the pain I felt when you found someone new
I tried to be happy for you
But in my heart
I hoped you would come back to me

We've been out a couple time
But you don't see the candle I hold for you
Now you are always there to lend a helping hand
But when we were together
You were hardly there
In my heart
I hoped that you changed
that you'll always love me
and never bring me any harm
But in the past
you tore my heart in two
And said it was for the best
I cried for I had lost you
and my candle had blown out
