Footprints

As I hold you in my arms I know happiness, I know peace

For this time and moment you are mine and I am yours

No matter what tomorrow brings we will always have this moment, this memory.

With the rising sun I may find myself standing on this shore, alone looking outward by myself

But your footprints will still be there beside me

And if I look back I will see them back to the point where you joined me

And I will have those memories, no matter how short or how long

And in latter years when times are tough and I am lonely

I will be able to look back on these times and smile

Because once, even if for a short time you were a part of my life

And I was a part of yours, and we were in love
