(This poem is written to a girl who loved someone else, but wanted me to
wait around to be sure she didn't want the other guy before she continued
with me. It doesn't work that way does it?)

Quietness is all around me, it seems.
The fire is out,
The spell has been cast;
Visions of you, are all in the past.

The discussions are over,
No meetings to attend.
I had a strange feeling
I'd lose in the end

I can't just sit here,
It hurts too much
So hard to find lasting love
If you have a crutch.

But what can I say,
You know the rest.
Now I see how it feels,
To be second best.
