All Spice

In my heart's melting pot
You make up so many of the flavors
my personal Baskin Robbins of savory sensory experience.

Sweet sticky chocolate and caramel
tastes of the banana split we share on a hot day
with the convertible top down
holding hands
you feed me while I drive
lick the spoon suggestively
fight over the last bite.

Hot biting Mexican spices
tastes of "our place"
the restaurant on the corner
a discreet little booth
we went on our second date...
and our tenth...
and our year and a half anniversary.
know the waiters name
you order for me without having to ask.

Salty wet human warmth
tastes of your lips
your tongue and your shoulder
and the other thousand body parts
I have memorized
and kiss and move over
with eyes closed
and we lay next to each other
my tongue still flickers out to taste again
to make sure you are there
the same as always.

Hot steaming rich coffee
tastes of cold January mornings
I barely want to move
you spoil me with treats in bed
carry me in a fuzzy blue blanket
towards an already running shower
the perfect temperature
lovingly towel me off
till the early hours become less painful
kiss me before I head to class.

In my heart's melting pot
You are the seasoning
the little extra I add to everything
in my memory.
