Walking

A pallid moon hangs in the mist streaked sky
Pregnant with power and pull
And I walk
Shattered glass
And granite dust

And the hot wind blows an alkaline bitterness
From the desert byway
And I walk
Broken needles
And cigarette filters

The night is alive with creatures
Whose calling and rustling reminds me that life must endure
So I walk
Twisted metal
And used condoms

And pause
As a touch sends chills down my spine
And love envelopes my heart
And peace overtakes my mind
As the coyotes scream
To warn me that
Spirits are Walking
And Talking, and Flying
In unison to troubled hearts
That require only faith
In Love
In Hope
In Forever
In my own Anima.
