A Candle and Me

It’s just a candle and me
Sitting here in the dark
Thinking of all the ways
That brought you into my heart.

Having nothing in my arms
But a pillow to embrace
Wishing you were here
Eye to eye - - face to face.

The rain outside is falling
Listen to the drops pidder-padder
Not a worry in the world
Because it really doesn’t matter.

Our cards have all been dealt
Now all we can do is wait
And play each day as it comes
Being patient of our fate.

So I’ll revel in this feeling
Which has snuck up on me
For love is a better teacher
Than it is a duty.
