Could I Write?

Could I write romantic poems if I didn't think of you

Or dream a thousand sensual dreams without a love I knew

Would I want to think impassioned thoughts, be breathless with delight

Awaken from loves fantasies if you weren't in my night

Should I wish to have you touch my hair or look into my eyes

If you were only mystical, mere dreaming or surmise?

Could I find such crystal focus, hear the music, know the rhyme

Or feel the rhythm love sets up, keep step within its time

Would I want to write a poem, dream erotic dreams for two

If love were not reality or real time spent with you?
