Forever?

Our paths crossed,
and inadvertently
you caught my eye,
making me want
to come back for more.
We fell into a play
with words, you leading,
me following, in a tap dance
across the floor of space.
We met in a kiss of soul’s
remembrance,
a time we had forgotten
surfacing to hold us tight.
The hourglass tipped,
the sands draining faster
than the unison beat of our
hurried hearts.
You gave me your love
and I held on for as long as I could,
but the sun set on the story of us
and I drifted away with the 
morning dew.
Sometimes it’s the moments
we have, and not the forever
we wait for, that is most important.
