Playing Games

Take me out to the ballgame
and lay me down in the middle
of the field.
I can worship your body
a hundred different ways
to Sunday,
but you’ll never touch my heart.

Take bets on how long I’ll stay
and make me into a sporting event
but make sure you get your money’s worth
because I’ll be gone in the blink of an eye.

One, two, three strikes you’re out,
and there are no extra innings
in this park.
Play through, ‘cuz there’s always
someone waiting in line,
and my interest is waning fast.

Take me out to the ballgame
but make sure you have your
own ride home
because as soon as you turn around
I’ll be off running the bases
With a new team.
