How?

How do you know
what is hidden in my heart

When my eyes glance your way
how do you know everything i'm afraid to say

How is it that you walked
right into my soul

Paying no heed to the walls
I have constructed to keep myself safe

Brushing it all aside
With the touch of your hand.

Making me think
I may be okay, If I let myself fall again.

I've been hurt so badly
before in the past.

Not wanting to risk my heart again
on something that may not last.

I've come to the decision
What will be will be.

With your smile and words 
I have the courage to set my heart free

Please be patient with me
as the words are sometimes hard to find

And I admit
more than once I may be afraid to speak my mind.

Because it's hard to forget
all the heartache and pain

But as long as you hold me
I'm sure I'll be able to be brave
