The Heart Says Hush
I woke this morning with a heart full of grace Determined that today was the day I had a decision to face So I washed the sleep from my eyes and readied my hard steel mind But when I dialed your number and heard your hello. My heart crossed the line.
I spoke of passion and rainbows and love's true call, While the little small voice inside made my head beat the wall, With a rhythm of weakness and angst I couldn't believe, 'Till the balm of your laughter brought sweet relief.
The mind deals in rational and obligation and free will. But the heart just says 'hush' and 'be still'. For love is a matter of magick and hope and desire And rational and free will may be qualities to admire,
But in these walls we deal in honesty and passion And when we speak of forever, truth is always in fashion. For you may rule the world of work and education But down here we trade in human emotion and relations.
So you rule your world and I'll rule my own, But remember the bruise made by the stone? If you think to rule me with the arrogance of mind There are many levels of pain I can inflict, you will find. So lighten up my fellow organ, and quit drawing damn lines. We'll get along better, for REAL love can be oh so kind.
