Just One Time

disintegrate into flowers, silk and mud
poison ivy, moth balls and lady bugs
Bibles, engines, magic wands and fatted calves
redress the red dress cause tonight we're "going halves"

she couldn't understand exactly what it meant at the time
i only attempted to console her
she couldn't quite grasp the full reality of the sign
i only wanted to control her, just one time

the writings got blurry
the words became fluid
fluent in all languages
...i dropped the pen as i collapsed upon the paper placed in front of me
