Less of Me
i tried to create imitation security
find fluffy sweet light of substance cotton candy promises
fully absorbing myself into you
as if your warmth could heal me
melt my blue
fully absorb myself
if crushed like a tiny pill
and easier to swallow
smaller like that and i hope less daunting
slip inside your bed with a shadow of you
i must be younger and more naive than ever
to be fooled into thinking
it all meant something
coated with a protective imagination's glaze
and pictures
and gifts
and tokens
blessed with my kiss
the benediction
and if i ever see you in that shirt i bought
on a whim
consolation prize
it might make it all more real
concrete confirmation
something happened and i am not living a lie
except when i try to pull you too close
against your will
fully abosorbing myself into you
younger
and more naive than ever
to be fooled into thinking i could make myself into someone different
and dance fully exposed in ultraviolet honesty in those dreams of yours
make myself into someone different
fully absorbing
myself
into
you.
