Marriage Knots

This is from my mom to me and my brother. She is the best mom in the universe. I'm sharing it because it rules. I'm sure other moms will argue about the best mom thing, and to their kid I bet they are the best mom's in the universe. Everything below is my mom's words....I love my mom. She rules.

Here is the story about fate/destiny in looking for a wife.

Once upon a time, there was a student studying to be government mandarin in
China. One late night, studying hard, he cannot sleep so he took a walk
along a river in a countryside. He met an old man sitting by the riverside
busy tying knots of red silk.
"What are you doing?" the student asked
"I am tying marriage knots for people destined to marry each other." The old
man said.
"How do you know who to tie to whom?"
The old man reply: "Here is my destiny book which tells me who will marry
whom"
The student then ask if the old man can tell him who he will marry to.
Reading from the book, the old man said:
"yeah, your wife will be the daughter of the beggar at East Market."
The student was devastated. He hoped to pass the exam, be rich and marry a
nice girl from good family, not a beggar's kid.
Next morning, he went to the East Market to see. Sure enough, he saw the
beggar there had a filthy, ugly girl about 8-9 years old. Cannot stand the
thought of having her as his wife, he waited until the market closed down.
In the dark of the night, he ambushed the beggar, knifed the kid and ran away.
10 years later, he was a young upcoming mandarin (government officer). He
was successful and on the way to top positions. He married the prime
minister's daughter. After the honeymoon, the loving couple was sharing a
bath, washing his wife long hair, he saw a scar on her head.
Where did you get this? he asked his wife
Oh, that's was long ago. I was living with my real mother who was beggar at
East market. One night we walked home, a crazy man knifed me. My real
mother thought I was dead so she left me there to die. My foster mother
found me, took me home to cure and adopted me.

That's all folks,
You guys have fun this weekend, but be careful, OK. Take your vitamins.
Love
Mom
