A Trip Through
Once you twist around and look
at the emotions you feel, read like a book
your heart and your soul
and find the way to understand the whole
truth of the thing
you've figured it out
Then you stumble off into the night
glee and glamour, shouting delight
to the world, who can see
now the thing that came to be
is true love
and your new lease on life
So down the road we carry
each other but then, some sooner some very
much more time along
you stumble again and the song
in your heart
seems out of tune now
You feel stale and you look
back into the book
you were reading before
and now from this angle there's more
to the thing
that you hadn't noticed, then
And you think about love, and making it stick
to your life and your heart and as you pick
on the emotional thing that you knew
you can see something different, true
about a feeling and
puzzlement over it
How the emotions are rearranged
differently from the ones you saw on the pages
and the things you feel now
are in the shadow
of the things that you thought
you knew then
