We the Few Are One
We the Few Are One
We stand in a circle
hands clasped tightly.
each lost in thought
minds walking in solitude
private places
alone…
until,
I feel my right hand squeezed hard
but briefly
and with reflex my left clamps down on hers.
around the circle and again
and again
again
fast, faster, faster still.
and as the speed increases my spirit rises
and takes sail on a sea of sails
calling turns with old and new friends.
No longer alone, I join a communal pool
of energy incarnate
spiritual release
and the joy of anticipation
of being a player
among a company of players.
preparing for the moment of
applause
adulation and ovation
and the creation and destruction of another world
about to be borne
by the love
and play of children.
Let the curtains rise!
