Sensory Recall

The sun rises every morning
Pouring herself on everything
Shedding light for all to see
All of the earth's beauties

The larks sing a dealicious tune
That takes me out of my room
Filling the house with an air
Of love and care

The marble counter gleams
Offering itself to me
The smoothness without fault
Is evident to my touch

The smell of coffee wafts
I take in hand the pot
Reminiscing of the time
When it was yours and mine

Another takes the lead
And tongues plunge deep
But numb I am to him
I'm thinking of you again

To the morning sun
I am blind
  I see hazy hues

To the lark song
I am deaf
  I hear only blues

Touch I cannot sense
I am consumed
  By yours, long overdue

Smells I can only crave
I only know
  The memories true

Taste is not alive
It left long ago
  And with it went you
