Telephone Bliss

Today I heard you voice 
and even though a thousand miles 
separate us,
you were by my side
if only for a brief moment 
And everything came rushing back.
Bits and pieces of us together
A flash of rememberance
A state of unrenounced bliss
as the sweetness of your voice 
seeped through me
Absorbed through my every pore
You are a part of me
and I of you
And only now do I realize that
I will never find anyone who compares to you
or even comes close.
The need to be with you is so great,
it threatens to overwhelm me.
With you I become everything
You make me whole
But then we say good-bye
and the line cuts off
So here I am once again
Alone
Without you
It should never be this way
There is only one
You.
