THe TImes that Try Woman's Souls

The Times That Try Women's Souls     July 7, 2000

She was crying
that day
she was laughing
that sassy gal
the day was long and hard
she was crying
then she was not
then it started all over again
like she couldn't remember
she hated this crying.
She really hated the crying.
The crying all the time.
she hated the crying
the hated crying
the cry
ing
she was crying oh she hated the crying
oh the crying was hated
the hateful lacrimosity - was full of luminosity
of ridiculosity
she hated that
the crying
she hated the cry
ing
the crying
all the crying
all the time
oh
how could she not
crying
was not fun
she hated it darnit

she was all set not
to cry and then
she would
she would cry
and then cry some more
and all day
and she laughingly called it
the ridiculosity of crying
the sense of feeling ridiculous
nonetheless she sure did cry a lot that day
and some of the nite too
the day she got dumped

she knew she wouldn't like not being dumped
that some friends wanted her to give it up
and she hoped that
that she luckily could live without it
by living in a fantasy world
made up as she went along
but

she knew dumping was in the offing
she hoped
by living in a fantasy world
made up as she went along
that she could sail through it
but
no
so
she cried
and thought of doing something
foolish
or seemingly ridiculous

and she even considered taking a class
to try and do something constructive
besides all this crying
and trying not to cry
I noticed all this
and that she was better
by the time I arrived
