His Understanding
His Understanding
She holds him in her hands
Trying to show how she cares
He thinks she doesn’t understand
He says that it just isn’t fair.
Holding back her fears
She allows her eyes to absorb the tears
He thinks she will get angry
He says that she just doesn’t see.
She tries to listen and hear him
Wishing she could pull near him
He thinks she doesn’t realize
He says that with a look in his eyes.
She turns away
Wanting to scream in pain.
He moves her back in his quiet stare
Repeating that she doesn’t understand
She looks at him with growing despair
And he falls through her hands like sand.
