You don’t know me.
Take the pieces that don’t
scare you away;
the softness,
the smiles,
kisses, sweet touches.
Draw a picture in your mind
or snap a Polaroid,
it might last longer.
You don’t know me.
Watch me dance naked
under the full moon,
and turn away with
a gentleman’s eye.
‘Heathen’ whispers
through your mind,
just another label.
You don’t know me.
See me dance among
the masses.
Hippie chick they call me now.
Shameless in the freedom
music can afford me.
Take it all in
before it disappears.
You don’t know me.
Find my little black book,
names like notches on my belt,
too many for you to handle.
Go ahead and paint ‘Slut’ in
neon colors over me.
You don’t know me.
Call me what you will.
All those things and more
are me.
So roll with the punches, darlin’.
Or if not,
you can kiss my
Slut, Heathen,
Hippie, Gypsy,
Manic, Psycho ass.
I’m comfortable with me
and I don’t need a man on
my arm to validate my being.
