wouldn't it be nice
wouldn't it be nice to have someone
to treat as royalty or as a beggar
to buy things for or extort from
whatever my heart desires
someone who's there when i am hurt
or simply fade away when not needed
and yet will come running back
whenever my heart desires
someone who takes whatever i choose to give
there's none too little or a little too much
who don't complain with the manner of giving
however my heart desires
someone to give me love when i'm unloved
yet whose love i can throw away at leisure
and still be there just in case i need it
whenever my heart desires
ah yes, wouldn't it be nice
to have someone like me to you.
