i saw your girlfriend the other day
and she gave me the meanest look
so i guess that means that
she still hates my guts
i don't blame her, i mean
at this point everyone knows
why i get girlfriend privelges in your car
and everyone knows that if i asked you do
you'd jump off a cliff
everyone knows why i like to play with your hair
why i smile every time you walk in the room

but the closest we come to talking about it
is our smiles
and the closest we come to touching
is our eyes
the closest we come to kissing
is the laughter on our lips

to express feelings makes them real
real life feelings have to be dealt with
and i could not stand to look in his eyes
and tell him i was falling for you

so for now i'll just be your other girl
the one you don't talk about to your friends
i'll be the other one
the one you dream about at night but who
is never there when you wake up
the one you admire in silence from a distance
if only the length of your arms
