Venus amongst the daffodils

Spring

[First Day of Spring]
Oil pastel on Canvas (16x20)

[Venus amongst the daffodils]

from my darkened cacoon
I watch you moving
set in your daily ritual,
you body moves
with a grace borne
from economy.
Naked you gather
clothes you've laid
neatly folded
along the back of a chair.
I feel the bed shift as you sit,
careful not to wake me.
Letting the sheets fall away from my body
I slowly crawl toward you
Today is the first day of spring
and we should celebrate such a day
moving forward I push your body back onto the bed,
I kneel over you, kissing you with passion
with urgency,
with a newness befitting the session.
I rise above you
and lead you -- naked, into the cool, crisp air outside.
sprawling languadly on the grass
I reach skyward offering my hands -- smiling.
your body is framed by pink and white --
magnolia blossoms are dressing you
Suddenly you are apon me
wrestling in the grass - dew damp on my body,
I'm pinned
your mouth is hard
and passionate
and hot
and I can smell the freshness
the newness
and you --
you twist so I am astride you,
rising from the earth I am a daffodil
graceful and bright
swaying against you
dancing in the breeze.
I am a daffodil -- unfurled in lovers arms
