Beneath the Flames

           Beneath the Flames

   Amidst the shadows of the trees,
     My life is but one vessel in an open sea;
    Dare I question my validity?
       Or boldly walk with adversity.

          Boldly I press on,
            Without much qualm;
           But surely I must question
                The degrees of my depression?

                   Life's beauty is sometimes masked,
                    Appearing upon some unknown path
                   What little choice do I have but
                    To press on down this new path.

                    You speak to me of truth!
                      But where do I find it?
                     Beneath the eternal flames
                      Of the fires of pain.

                     Or is it found not far behind
                      Down our painstaking path,
                     That reveals to us our past,
                       Lived not so long ago,
                      That can show us the way
                        To much happier days...
