Lover By Lightning

They say that a storm in the desert
will make you believe
that god and nature
are close kin,
their wonders to behold.
Oh I am mad---
because the bolt and flash
just left the small hairs dancing
and I am not afraid.
Rather I would cast off my clothes
and take your hand
and lead you to the mesa
where the lightning falls like rain
and ask you to take my body,
take my soul
and defy god and nature
while the airs dances
with electricity.
I taste copper on my tongue,
the salt dried on your skin
and oh the unleashed glory
in your eyes
as your hand spans my waist
as you pull me close
and kiss me with white fire
falling all around,
the wind howls it's rage
that we are foolish,
that we dare to love like this
and tears at my hair
making me fallen angel-----
a crazed witch in your arms
but the danger is nothing.
Every breath after the first
is a risk---
but to have you
to know you
I will risk it all
and if we are consumed
on this desert night
then I will have had you
heart and soul
on the broad Mesa
dancing in your embrace
before the eyes of the gods.
