Songbirds
Did I find my voice yet?
The one I was sure was there
When a I sat on a hillside overrun
With dusty chokecherries?
Did you hear me say this and that
With tears - to let you go? Or
did the songs fall only on the
trees that caught me weeping?
Have I sung long enough
To entice the moon into
My back pocket or the stars to
Nestle somewhere where I can find them?
