Friday
She waits for the phone to ring
alone on the couch.
Entertained by an overactive imagination.
He won't call.
Saturday
They watch from the kitchen
their poor little girl
afraid to move lest it ring in her absence.
They've seen it before.
Sunday
She's asleep by the phone
when it shreaks beside her.
Instantly awake she clutches it to he pounding head
it's not for her.
She bursts into tears....
